Don't Bother |

I waited two and a half months for this unit to ship because I wanted a guitar I could play my PS2 and PS3 Guitar Heroes and Rock Band games on my PS3. The description lead my to believe that this controller was the solution. I finally received it at the beginning of this week and low and behold it does not deliver what it promised. I got in touch with support to find out why the controller didn't work as promised and all the could tell me was they are aware of the problem and they were working on it. So I further asked when they expected to have this resolved and all I was told was to keep checking back with the website to see if the fix has been posted. What kind of junk is that? I guess that's what I get for buying a controller from a Cracker Jack Company. If I were to give anyone any advise about this controller don't buy it until it has been proven to work and all the problems have been worked out OR JUST DON'T BUY IT AT ALL.

Not being a fan of thier earlier guitars I still wanted something to allow dual compatibility.
Recieved my unit Sat and noticed right off that it was heavier and less flimsy then the RB guitar. Also a few inches longer. The strum bar is solid and gives a very solid click. During gameplay it doesnt kick back and give that extra strum that kills your note streak like past guitars Ive used. The buttons themselves are very solid with a confident press. If youve used the GH guitars you will feel right at home. Only complaint is I wish they were a little shallower. Whammy bar is very nice and doesnt drift. The rest of the buttons are functional and well placed. I jumped right into RB and was hammering away at the even the most intense songs with no issues.
The guitar also works very well with GHIII
all in all I think this is a quality 3rd party guitar. While not perfect It does exactly what I needed it to do and provides a great and IMO better alternative to the RB guitar.

While it does satisfy the dual compatibility issue with Rock Band and GH3, there are issues with the guitar design. Although they claim otherwise, the effects switch only works three ways versus the 5 way switch required for Rock Band. The pictures on both the website and the guitar box itself, show the silver strap clips on both tips of the guitar body. However, the guitar itself is set up like their other models where you only have the insert on the back of the bottom of the guitar neck that is only secured by a rubber insert. The long term stability of this rubber insert worries me. I hope the company will offer free replacements. The 360 FLY clip is not as stable as I'd hoped and suffers from the same concern about how stable the rubber insert will hold the clip to the guitar. While a fun novelty, your arms get fatigued without the strap holding it. If TAC would address the strap issue and make a model that is true to the pictures I would rate this better and buy a 2nd.

Mine stopped working 30 seconds into the first song. After months of waiting, after slip after slip, this was a huge let down.
The 360 Fly feature is a useless novelty. VanDoom's description of the form factor is pretty accurate.
I now get to test out TAC's customer service and RMA policy.

Unless you need to play RB and GH both... save your money! It came with a %10 coupon for TAC store for all the pre-order troubles. It does not match the photo. There is a strap pin in the rear but none on the edges. You slide a pin into a grove on the back, it does not "secure" and slides out easily. The pins are huge, I had to tear the pin hole on the strap to get it on. Its the same size as a stratocaster. The neck is thick, like the GH units. The tuning pegs are rubber. The whammy and strum bars are work well. The strummer is small. A slide on the side covers an empty hole. The fret and solo buttons work well. Due to their raised setup and the neck its not friendly to slide between the two in RB. I am an lefty and the layout is not very friendly for play. Final word, it plays well and if you're a GH fan you'll feel at home. If you don't need dual compatibility or you prefer the Stratocaster, this is not for you. For myself, this will be the "guest guitar."
